APHH Quarterly Newsletter
January 1 - March 31, 2005
Volume 2, Issue 1

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! I hope your holidays in 2004 were filled with joy and good health.

Well, our previous newsletter was written and mailed out before the 2004 hurricanes that battered parts of Florida. I sincerely hope that all of our readers faired well in the aftermath. Although Angel’s Pediatric Heart House is close to the beach, there was no damage at the Heart House. However, we were without power for about a week, which caused a delay with some of the work that was being done at the Heart House. In addition, our application for a building occupational license was also delayed. I’m happy to announce that we finally received an approval from the City of Ft. Lauderdale just this month!

Because of these delays, the start of some of the programs mentioned in the previous newsletter have been pushed back on the calendar. A programs and events calendar will be mailed out at a later date.

February 14th is coming up soon and this date conjures up images of hearts and love everywhere you go. Do you know that also on this date families affected by CHD together with health care providers, hospitals and other organizations (including APHH) participate in a national campaign—February 14th Congenital Heart Defects Awareness Day? What better day to remember families affected by CHD. To learn more about this campaign go to the Congenital Heart Information Network’s website—www.tchin.org. Let’s create awareness of CHD by telling friends, co-workers, classmates and others about February 14th Congenital Heart Defects Awareness Day.

Becoming a Member of Angel’s Pediatric Heart House

As current members already know, becoming a member doesn’t cost you anything. All programs and activities are free of charge; and we will never solicit you for contributions.

As a newly formed organization, we will be relying on referrals from physicians, social workers, hospitals and other health care providers to increase our membership.

Families affected by congenital heart defects or childhood acquired heart disease can also spread the word to other families through on-line chat groups, while visiting the doctor’s office or during a hospital stay. Together, we can help build a strong support community.

Call us at 954-318-2020, so that we can schedule you to attend a New Member Meeting.
