“MILES AND MILLAS ACROSS AMERICA” HEART SHADOW BUDDIES™ SPREADING HOPE AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO FAMILIES AFFECTED BY CONGENITAL HEART DEFECTS (CHD)

On February 14, 2007 Angel’s Pediatric Heart House (APHH) will launch the “Miles and Millas Across America” campaign. Angel’s Pediatric Heart House’ resident Heart Shadow Buddies™, Miles and Millas, serve as our ambassadors to the CHD community. Every year in the United States, approximately 40,000 children are born with a heart defect. It is the number one birth defect.

The purpose of the “Miles and Millas Across America” campaign is to promote and increase public awareness. However, more importantly, Angel’s Pediatric Heart House is hopeful that through the travels of Miles and Millas those parents with a child undergoing heart surgery, along with the heart child and family members, are encouraged by the words and stories of other families throughout the United States facing similar challenges. The families’ stories, messages of hope and encouragement, and pictures will be recorded in a passport diary and shared with all those affected, the medical staff and professionals who care for the heart child, and the CHD community at large.

Every child visited by Miles and Millas in the pediatric cardiac care unit receives a free Heart Shadow Buddy™ from Angel’s Pediatric Heart House!

Angel’s Pediatric Heart House is pleased to recognize the Shadow Buddies Foundation and The Congenital Heart Information Network as collaborators in this campaign.



You can help support this campaign in two ways. (1) Every heart child in the hospital visited by Miles and Millas receives a free Heart Shadow Buddy™ from Angel’s Pediatric Heart House. You can sponsor one buddy by donating $29.00 or sponsor more than one with a donation of $29.00 per buddy. A card with your name, city, state and message will be included with each sponsored buddy. APHH recognizes you on the website. Click on the “Donate Now” button and designate your donation to the Miles and Millas Campaign then fill out the Sponsorship Form and email it back to us. You can also mail the form with a check to Angel’s Pediatric Heart House. (2) Your group, business, place of employment or school can collect money and send the funds to Angel’s Pediatric Heart House (APHH). A card with your group’s name will be included with thebuddy. Send your check and the sponsorship form to APHH.
